I began this genre study with a deep-dive into the etymology of the word ‘just’ — which then transitioned into a list of annotated bibliographies including the noun, verb, and adverb.

Why an annotated bibliography?

I began thinking about the word ‘just’ through a conversation in the previous class about how the word “just” oversimplifies the complicated intention behind a word or meaning. I began to deeply think about what the word means. As someone interested in words, I am prone to going into the etymological details of the word. Through a deep dive into the word “just,” I was fascinated by the meanings over the years and how it as changed from “just: meaning a person or being which is no somewhat archaic to the meaning of “simply” or “fairness.”

An annotated bibliography is one where the source is listed along with a short summary of the description. Used mainly as a source of information or reference later in academic sources. I wanted to use this format to show the different definitions of the word ‘just’ as a form of summary. Here one simple word is described in 3 different ways giving you a different summary or offering a different understanding in each collection.
